Fourth Quarter 2018 Social Weather Survey: Hunger decreases to 10.5% of families

The Fourth Quarter 2018 Social Weather Survey, conducted from December 16-19, 2018, found that 10.5% or an estimated 2.4 million families experienced involuntary hunger at least once in the past three months.

The measure of Hunger refers to involuntary suffering because the respondents answer a survey question that specifies hunger due to lack of food to eat.

This is 2.8 points lower than the 13.3% (est. 3.1 million families) Hunger in September 2018 [Chart 1, Table 1].
