Alongside the annual Davao Agritrade EXPO (DATE), special conferences will be held such as the Food Security and , Infrastructure Conference on Sept. 20 and the Agribusiness Innovations Conference on Sept. 21.
The Agribusiness innovation conference will focus on new technologies as as internet based marketing and blockhain technology to finance agribusiness ventures. Likewise expected are Chinese Consul LiLin and Singapore Deputy Chief of Mission Suli Zhou will discuss agriculture markets in China and Singapore on Sept. 21.
Likewise to be discussed are new irrigation technologies and the implementation of the new farm tourism law that aims to boost the income of our farms. According to DATE Chair John Tria, these measures will make our farms more competitive.
“Farm tourism allows many of our smaller farms to generate cash income by receiving guests and visitors, This also spurs local employment when famrs become small restaurants or resorts. We have many examples of these in ur uplands and we feel this is a good model for local growth,” he explained.
Apart from this, speakers on Blockchain technology such as Ann Cuisia-Lindayag is the CEO of blockchain startup TraXion and internet based marketing companies will be sharing their insights on new ways to generate funds and obtain sales for agri products especially high value fruits and vegetables.
“As our local market grows the need for a variety of food products is there and I believe this is an opportunity for small farmers to supply high value products. Lets make technology work for our farms,” said.
This year marks the 20th staging of Southern Philippines’ biggest and longest-running agri trade expo of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc., the Davao Agri-Trade Expo (DATE). It is geared towards accelerating agricultural development of dubbed-Philippines’ food basket. DATE 2018 focuses generally on the Golden Crops (Cacao, Coffee, Coconut, Cassava, Corn, + Rice, Banana and Bamboo), with the theme: “Better Agri for EveryJUAN”.
Davao Agri Trade Expo (DATE) is an annual flagship event of DCCCII which aims to bring together global and national agricultural experts that will provide essential ideas, best practices, updates on agricultural standards, emerging markets and wide prospects and networks that will contribute to Mindanao’s sustainable crop industries. On another note, this year’s DATE aims to highlight the idea of adding more value to the Agricultural sector by partnering with other foreign countries that have technologies, processing equipments and other machineries that are valuable in Agriculture.
The 20th DATE will feature exhibitors essentially coming from agri-trade, agri-industrial equipment, fertilizers, crop sciences, and disease management of the Golden Crops. This will be held on September 20-22, 2018, at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Lanang, Davao City.
