Surprises at My Art My Sm in Davao

My Art My Sm features the collection of the alumni and faculty of the Ford Academy of the Arts Founded by Aida Rivera Ford, the school is acknowledged as one of the premiere private educational institutions in Mindanao offering fine arts courses.

What hits you is the Victorio Edades Display of works now housed at the school. It features some portaits such as those of Philippine Women`s long time dean Rosa Santos Munda and a few sketches.

Few outside of Mindanao know that the National Artist migrated to Davao in later life and taught at the Philippine Womens College and the Ford Academy of the Arts.

He thus joins the venerable Ang Kuikok as one of two national artists who resided in the King City.

Other works by artist s such as Jimmy Ang bring vivid cubist movements while Joel Geolamen`s impressive landscapes clothed in Mindanao weaves tickel the imagination.

The exhibit runs until mid august at the atrium, SM Lanang premiere in Davao City.
