In a survey among Luzon voters ran by survey firm Publicus Asia, Media and NGOs received lower trust ratings than government and Armed forces.
PUBLiCUS Asia, Inc.’s independent poll called PAHAYAG Luzon surveyed the 1,800 respondent registered voters from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, Region 4A, Region 4B, and Region 5 during field work last May 7-11, 2018. These are regions outside the National Capital Region, which, according to its website will be the subject of a separate survey.
In terms of trust in institutions, voters in Balance Luzon gave the government, AFP and PNP good overall trust ratings of 88%, 85%, and 74% respectively. Voters’ trust in the media is almost the same at the PNP’s, yet is noticeably lower than government and the AFP. (see table)
The business sector, on the other hand, is being trusted by 8/10 voters in Balance Luzon. NGOs, on the other hand, are the least trusted institution by voters. The administration of PRRD is trusted by 9 in 10 voters in Balance Luzon.
The same survey also measures their responses on the following: Living standards; The Country (State of the Nation); Love, Care, and Solidarity of Leaders; National Interest; Political Issues; Political Parties, Predisposition toward the 2019 Senatorial Election; Media Habits; Luzon-Specific Questions, and Endearing Philippine Brands. The execurive Summary can be read here: http://www.publicusasia.com/executive-summary-findings-of-pahayag-luzon-poll-may-7-11-2018.
The survey findings are significant given the regions large population and exposure to media compared to other parts of the country.
