The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines recently organized the ECCP- Southern Mindanao Business Council.
Inspired by its vision to strengthen economic ties between Mindanao and Europe, the group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mindanao Development Authority to support sustainable businesses and promote inclusive growth in the region.
Mr. Antonio Peralta of the Foundation for Rural Enterprise and Ecology Development of Mindanao (FREEDOM Inc.) was named chairman of the council while Mr. Ricardo Luis Lagdameo of Damosa Land Inc and Mr. Eddy Hartman of Hartman Business Solutions Inc. were selected as vice chairmen.
The Council is expected to help steer its members towards helping Mindanao achieve its full potential.
Mindanao being the Philippines’ gateway to the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) and EU being ASEAN’s 2nd largest trading partner, the ECCP-SMBC also envisions its eventual integration within the BIMP-EAGA to promote economic opportunities and facilitate trade and investment between EU, BIMP-EAGA, and Mindanao.
